Dear Well wishers "Greetings from Sharon Society of Pondicherry" As you all know that our Sharon Society of Pondicherry is providing many social services to the vulnerable people in society. Under the "SNEGAN" Project For the past 10 years we are rescuing many abandoned elderly people who are staying on the road side Today we came to know that for the past few days a 72 years old lady is staying on the street of Lawspet without food. Immediately our Sharon Society Volunteers reached there and rescued that old woman from the street then we gave first aid, food and counselling to her. Later on the old women was handed to her children at Thavalakuppam, Puducherry. And today we came to know that due to the lockdown of Civid -19 one lady and her child with cancer are suffering near Jipmer hospital without any transport facilities. Immediately we went there and rescued them and took the lady and her child in our vehicle and handed them to their family members at Chidambaram. The services available at the center

The Pushpagandhi Home for aged was started by Mr. G. Mohan, Founder of Sharon Society of Pondicherry in 2008 with 5 elderly widows to provide shelter; clothing, food and health care in Puducherry. So far around 83 widows & destitute women had been benefited. At present; 19 elderly widows & destitute women are staying in the home. The following Services are available at the home. (No, 41 3rd Cross Kurinji Nagar Lawspet Puducherry)

Nutrition / food:

The Pushpagandhi home for aged having provision to provide 3 meals & 1 snack to complete their nutrition needs.

Medical Care:

Dr. Tamilarasi (general physician) visiting home on weekly basis to conduct general health check-up and one staff nurse also appointed to follow-up with doctor and provide medical care to the elderly widows.


The professional's social worker / counsellor frequently visiting to conduct counselling sessions with elderly widows to overcome from their worries and coping up with the other women. Through counselling, we have also restored around 20 elderly widows to their respective families.

Recreational activities:

Frequently, we are conducting picnics, short tours to beaches, temples and other places of Pondicherry/Tamil Nadu & also making them participate in games like Carrom board, musical chair for keeping their mind sharp and physically active. We are also having a garden (backside of home) where all elderly women do active gardening
