Pushpagandhi Home was
started in 2008 to provide alternative shelter for destitute abandoned elderly surviving spouses. In 2014, the home was recognized by State Govt. as licensed under the Maintenance and
Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
In 2019, the home was also recognized by Central Govt. under
AVYAY Scheme (earlier known as IPOP Scheme) and in January
2020 Parliamentary Standing Committee on Social Justice and
Empowerment consisting of about 20 Members of Parliament &
5 Officers of the Lok Sabha Secretariat visited "Pushpagandhi
Home" at Kurinji Nagar, Lawspet, and Shri. Madhu Bhutani,
Deputy Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat appreciated Pushpagandhi Home for its services to old aged people. In 2021, the
Home has been shifted to plot no. 224, VIP Nagar, Korkadu Village, Nettappakkam Commune, Puducherry-605110. Currently,
more than 20 senior people are staying in the home.
